Gulab Jamun is one of the famous Indian sweet.It is one of the oldest sweet known to Indians.It is also known as Lal Mohan , Panthua etc. Here is a simple method to prepare gulab jamuns which I have learned from my mother-in-law.
Hot gulab jamuns in sugar syrup
Ingredients:
1.Flour / maida - 200gm
2.Samolina (Sooji/Rava) - 100gm
3. Refined Oil
4. Milk
To make sugar syrup :
1. Purified drinking water
2. Sugar - 800gm
3. Cardamom powder : 2-3 pinch
Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the balls till they become brown. Donot fry the balls to red.Once the balls turn brown take them out of wok and put them into the syrup.Leave the balls in syrup for 4-5 hours.
Enjoy mouth watering gulab jamuns cold/hot. You may also taste hot gulab jamuns with vanilla ice-cream. You may also try with ReadyMix Gulab Jamun Mix available in the market. The process remains same except adding of maida and sooji.

Ingredients:

2. Sugar - 800gm

Keep sooji in a bowl submerged in water for 30mins.Put maida and sooji(after draining the water)in a mixing bowl. Add little milk to it to make a smooth dough. Care should be taken that the dough is smooth.Now make small balls from the dough.Keep them covered so that they donot dry.
Now in another vessel mix water and sugar.Heat water in low flame till the sugar dissolves.When sugar gets fully dissolved and water becomes sticky put off the flame.Add cardamom powder to the hot syrup. You can also add rose essence to the syrup.
