Niramish Aloo Bhaja in Bengali Style (Fried Potatoes with Black Cumin)


It is always a mouth watering Bengali item for any age group. Famously known as "Aloo Bhaja" among the Bengalis. One may think it is similar to French Fries but the taste varies in both the items.
It goes well with hot pulses , steamed rice . Many likes it with ghee and butter.

Here is the simple recipe for Aloo Bhaja - Bengali Style with Black Cumin Seeds

Ingredients:

1. Potato(Whole) - 200gms
2. Green Chilli - 3 to 4 nos.
3. Turmeric - 1/4th tea spoon
4. Red Chilli powder - pinch
5. Black cumin seeds - pinch(15-20 seeds)
 Add salt to taste

Serving pax- 1 to 2


Cut the potatoes in thin slices or similar to French Fry style.But it has to be thin.Pour about 5-10ml oil in a frying pan.When the oil is suitably hot  add green chillies to the oil and stir it. Add black cumin seeds. After 3-4 seconds add the thin sliced potatoes. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder.Salt is to be added according to taste.Fry the ingredients till the potatoes turn golden.

Your Aloo Bhaja with Black Cumin Seeds are ready .Remove from heat and serve hot with pulse and steamed rice.
